Він ставить питання про те, як ми сприймаємо навколишнє і як ставимося до плину часу. Робота цього художника досліджує кордони між фотографією та фільмом, між нерухомими та рухомими зображеннями, анімацією та цифровими маніпуляціями зображень. Існуючі фото- чи відеоматеріали, як і старі чорно-білі фотографії, є його відправною точкою. Потім Девід Клербаут, наприклад, представляє великі розширені чорно-білі зображення у відеоінсталяціях і оживляє їх, тонко активуючи деякі елементи. Він використовує новітні техніки, щоб додати мінімальний рух до оригінального нерухомого зображення. І також, навпаки, він зупиняє відеозображення. He raises questions about how we perceive our surroundings and how we deal with the passage of time. This artist\u0026rsquo;s work investigates the boundaries between photography and film, between still- and moving images, between animation and digital image-manipulation. Existing photographic or film material, like old black-and-white photos, are his points of departure. David Claerbout then, for example, presents large blow-ups of black-and-white images in video installations, and brings them to life by subtly activating certain details. He uses the latest techniques to add minimal movement to the original still image. Conversely, he brings video images to standstill as well. Important here is the elapse of time: by looking at Claerbout\u0026rsquo;s work, we become almost physically conscious of time\u0026rsquo;s eternal march. Hij stelt zich vragen over de manier waarop wij onze omgeving waarnemen en hoe we omgaan met het verglijden van de tijd. Met zijn werk onderzoekt de kunstenaar de grenzen tussen fotografie en film, tussen stilstaande en bewegende beelden, tussen animatie en digitale beeldmanipulatie. Bestaand fotografisch of filmisch materiaal zoals oude zwartwitfoto\u0026rsquo;s vormt het vertrekpunt. David Claerbout brengt bijvoorbeeld sterk uitvergrote zwart-wit beelden in video-installaties tot leven door details op een subtiele manier te activeren. Met de nieuwste technieken voegt hij minimale bewegingen toe aan het oorspronkelijk stilstaande beeld. Omgekeerd brengt hij videobeelden tot stilstand. Belangrijk daarbij is het verstrijken van de tijd: door naar Claerbouts werk te kijken, wordt de toeschouwer zich bijna fysiek bewust van de eeuwige beweging van de tijd.
