Bereft of legs, they seem to be waiting for something, or are perhaps lost in thought. The silence they exude is also to be found in ventriloquist dummies, an item that frequently pops up in Mu\u0026ntilde;oz\u0026rsquo;s installations. \u003cem\u003e\u0026ldquo;I\u0026rsquo;m interested in the incredible loneliness, the simple presence, without pain or fear. The ventriloquist\u0026rsquo;s dummy waits in silence and looks not at the spectator. He is indifferent,\u0026rdquo;\u003c/em\u003e\u0026nbsp;says Mu\u0026ntilde;oz. He arranges dolls, dwarfs, soldiers, marionettes and dancers on a floor, a wall or on scaffolding. He relates each figure in term of posture, material, accessories and size to its place, its surroundings and to the other elements in his installation. As a visitor, you enter the work and thus unintentionally become a part of it. Looking and being looked at are important here. His works are comparable to d\u0026eacute;cors and film stills; a story is being told, but the viewer does not know what came before or what happened next. Het meest bekend zijn de mysterieuze figuren met een halfronde onderzijde die ons doen denken aan tuimelaars. Door het ontbreken van de benen lijken ze ergens op te wachten, in gedachten verzonken. De stilte die daar van uitgaat, is ook terug te vinden in de buiksprekerpoppen, die meermaals opduiken in Mu\u0026ntilde;oz\u0026rsquo; installaties.\u003cem\u003e \u0026ldquo;Ik ben ge\u0026iuml;nteresseerd in de ongelofelijke eenzaamheid, het gewoon aanwezig zijn zonder pijn of angst. De buiksprekerpop wacht in stilte en kijkt niet naar de toeschouwer. Hij is onverschillig,\u0026rdquo;\u003c/em\u003e\u0026nbsp;zegt Mu\u0026ntilde;oz. Hij arrangeert poppen, dwergen, soldaten, marionetten en dansers op een vloer, een muur of een stellage. Hij relateert elke figuur in zijn houding, materiaal, accessoires en grootte aan zijn plaats, zijn omgeving en aan de andere elementen in zijn installatie. Als toeschouwer treed je het werk binnen en word je dus ongewild een deel van het werk. Het kijken en bekeken worden is hierbij belangrijk. Zijn werken zijn te vergelijken met decors en filmstills; er wordt een verhaal verteld, maar de toeschouwer weet niet wat ervoor of erna gebeurde.
