This allows her to encounter the types of places and situations that may potentially serve as sources that inspire folk religion, often arising from the urge to explain the unexplainable. Matyn seeks human interaction with the landscape, and from her own perspective makes an attempt to participate in the rituals inherent to them. She makes these rituals her own by physically shaping raw materials and reworking them, re-employing them in rites of her own creation. Zo stoot ze op de soorten plaatsen en situaties die als inspiratie zouden kunnen fungeren voor volksgeloof, vaak ontstaan uit een drang het onverklaarbare te verklaren. Matyn gaat op zoek naar de menselijke omgang met het landschap en probeert vanuit een eigen blik deel te nemen aan de rituelen die daarbij horen. Ze eigent zich de rituelen toe door op een lichamelijke manier pure materialen te manipuleren en te herwerken en opnieuw op te voeren in eigen riten.
