It was listed as 'Slogans' on the purchase agreement, drawn up and issued by the museum; however, the artist himself consistently uses 'Dusty Phrases' as the title in interviews, the title Пыльные фразы ('Dusty Phrases') is also used by the Russian-speaking media which referred to M HKA's exhibition in 2003. The confusion might have come from the fact, that Osmolovsky has contributed two texts to the catalogue of Horizons of Reality (2003), one of the texts was titled SLOGANS.

The artist explains (translated from RU):

"In 2003, when I participated in a large exhibition of Russian art at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (curated by Bart de Baere, V. Misiano), the Belgian curator suggested making a work that, on the one hand, was related to my texts (I was writing a theoretical text for the catalogue) and, on the other hand, could be exhibited simultaneously in several places in the exhibition rooms. Focusing on the idea of 'non-spectacularity' at that time, I was most concerned with creating a sense of the accidental emergence of art. This is why ordinary dust was chosen as the material. Therefore, the aphorisms themselves were dusted at the bottom of the walls, closest to the floor as if they “appeared” due to the visitors' walking back and forth. That was the idea.
The new technique has emphasized the original idea of randomness, unintentionality. Sprayed dust on the walls is applied unevenly, causing the effect of blurred edges and disappearing letters.
Bart de Baere, curator and director of M HKA, was so pleased with the work that he decided to buy it. However, since the work does not have its own material medium, they decided to buy the technology itself — the right to dust the walls of the museum with the famous series of my aphorisms.”

https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/085/811/medium_500/2021_EURAZIE___photo_M_HKAclinckx__29.jpg?1661259659
https://s3.amazonaws.com/mhka_ensembles_production/assets/public/000/085/811/large/2021_EURAZIE___photo_M_HKAclinckx__29.jpg?1661259659
© Anatoly Osmolovsky.
