In \u003cem\u003eBible Blood\u003c/em\u003e, we have two objects from out of which he cuts new artifacts. The one is an electric heater, with the metal plate from its front used to cut-out a two-dimensional form that he then bends into something three-dimensional: a pistol. From the heater\u0026rsquo;s rear, he creates a book with a cross in the same way. The other object is a red, artificial-leather armchair, the back of which he cuts-up into a two-dimensional, rather grotesque, rounded shape.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe new artifacts remain attached via an umbilical cord of its own material to the mother-object. Woodrow names the former \u0026lsquo;hosts\u0026rsquo; and the latter \u0026lsquo;guests\u0026rsquo;, but there is also the connotation of the consecrated hostie, a body self-sacrificed. Mounted in the exhibition space, it seems like we\u0026rsquo;ve come onto the scene where some drama has just been played out. The heater and the chair are turned over, pistol and Bible lie spread on the ground, and \u0026ndash; behind the chair \u0026ndash; the grotesque red shape we mentioned above looks like a puddle of blood. The reader of these images can make his or her own story from them. As Woodrow himself says: \u003cem\u003e\u0026quot;There is no such thing as wrong interpretation of my work.\u0026quot;\u003c/em\u003e\u0026nbsp;Woodrow brings about a change of focus: from a (once) useful object to an image, a presentation, from the thing itself to its apparition.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n"},{"locale":"nl","short_description":"","description":"\u003cp\u003eUit het karkas van een afgedankt voorwerp construeert Woodrow een nieuw object met christelijke verwijzingen. Het andere voorwerp is een rode kunstlederen zetel waarvan hij de achterkant verknipt tot een tweedimensionale, grillige, afgeronde vorm.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eDe nieuwe artefacten blijven door een navelstreng van hun eigen materiaal aan het moederobject verbonden; Woodrow noemt de eerste guests, gasten, en het tweede host, gastheer, maar ook in de betekenis van hostie, een zichzelf opofferend lichaam. Opgesteld in de ruimte lijkt het alsof we getuige zijn van een drama dat juist heeft plaatsgevonden. De radiator en de zetel zijn omvergeworpen, pistool en bijbel liggen verspreid op de grond en de eerder genoemde grillige rode vorm lijkt op een plas bloed achter de zetel. De lezer van deze beelden maakt er een eigen verhaal van, \u0026quot;\u003cem\u003eer kan nooit sprake zijn van een foute interpretatie van mijn werk\u003c/em\u003e,\u0026quot; zegt de kunstenaar.
